MACU Announces USCAA Affiliation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MACU Announces USCAA Affiliation Elizabeth City, NC, December 6, 2012 – The Athletic Department at Mid-Atlantic Christian University has been accepted into a national affiliation for athletic programs, the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, or USCAA. MACU applied this fall and received provisional status earlier this week. This USCAA membership broadens MACU’s athletic footprint from a regional affiliation to a national affiliation. As a USCAA provisional member, “MACU is immediately eligible for Player of the Week and National All-Academic honors with the USCAA, as well as statistical leaders as displayed on our website,” said the association.  According to President Clay Perkins, “Athletics are important at Mid-Atlantic. This next step is a game changer for Mid-Atlantic and the City of Hospitality. Now student athletes have another viable option for pursuing collegiate-level sports in our city while earning one of our 19 degrees. We are confident in Athletic Director Neal Alligood and the direction he is taking the program.” Other steps forward for MACU and her growing athletic program have been the addition of women’s basketball this year and men’s golf and women’s volleyball for the 2013 season. ROTC Cadet Hedges Recognized

November 29, 2012 - On Tuesday, November 20, VP Academic Affairs Kevin Larsen and Associate Professor of Counseling Don McKinney participated at Elizabeth City State University in a special recognition ceremony that included MACU Army ROTC Cadet Jared Hedges (senior).  Cadet Hedges was part of an elite group of cadets that competed in “Ranger Challenge.” The “Ranger Challenge” competition is a demanding two day individual and team competition with other ROTC teams representing a total of 40 different universities and colleges in the 4th brigade. The goal is to challenge cadets in tough mental and physical situations and scenarios thereby enhancing leader development and building team cohesion. It is good healthy competition among the cadets at the collegiate level. US Senator Richard Burr Speaks at MACU

US Senator Richard Burr, R-NC, was on the campus of Mid-Atlantic Christian University Wednesday, Oct. 17, for an Elizabeth City Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored breakfast event that was open to the public.
